Why we left Webflow
Webflow was the right tool for our first five years, and it's still one of the best website builders out there. We didn't leave because it was doing a bad job — we left because of what we'd outgrown, and what AI tooling now makes trivial. Before rebuilding we tried the obvious fixes: we brought in an agency and tested Framer. The real problem was the ceiling of the platform, not the execution.
Below is every reason we made the switch, the tool that replaced each piece of Webflow, and an honest take on whether you should do the same.
What's inside
- The 4 reasons we left — cost, CMS control, speed, and letting anyone on the team ship a page.
- The tool map — exactly what replaced each piece of Webflow (most of it free).
- The workflow — how a non-developer ships a page in 2–3 hours instead of 2 days.
- The real numbers — what it costs, and where the ROI actually is.
- Should you do this? — when to switch, and when Webflow is still the right call.
